We had planned to have a live show tonight to do a group commentary of the season 4 finale but…my house is underwater. Well, ok, it’s not quite that bad, but there is flooding going on, my street is closed off, there’s intermittent power outages and we are having to pump our basement and pray it doesn’t get worse. We’ll have to pick the live show up later. Meanwhile, I’ll get the lost Jeopardy episode posted soon.

Also, my internet provider has ALSO been having power outages, so my apologies for my web site being down so much this week.

I’ve written a post about Martin Keamy, which will definitely be a spoiler for you if you haven’t seen the season 4 finale yet. If you’ve already seen it or if you don’t care to get spoiled, read on for my thoughts about our favorite killing machine!

I’d like to take this opportunity to request a moment of silence for Martin Christopher Keamy please…

Sure he’s a cold blooded killer, but could a guy with a tattoo of Eduardo from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends be all bad?

Keamy enjoyed shooting stuff and wearing dead man switches in his armpit.

His hobbies included threatening to kill people, attempting to kill people that he couldn’t kill, killing people on the freighter, and killing everyone on the island.

All that brute force and needless violence made him unbelievably sexy. But we are left, after his death, to ponder whether or not he had any interest in women at all beyond shooting them in the head.

Like all the LOST characters, I’m sure he was really a nice guy down deep who was a victim of bad parenting and other various circumstances which led him to become the big sexy musclebound killing machine we grew to know and love him as.

He and all his faceless friends will be missed.

I just wanted to plug a couple things happening with my blog, Audibly Lost. For those that haven’t read it yet, the interview I did with Kris White (from The Official Lost Podcast) is now complete. The last part went up yesterday. In it, Big-O gets some questions in for Kris as well so be sure to check out Part Three of the interview, if nothing else.

The question of the week is “Who dressed the Oceanic Six?”

They needed to fire the stylist for that press conference! Just look at Jack in the worst cheap looking khaki blazer!

Well it is a better look than the blood soaked appendix shirt he’s wearing on the island. That guy certainly gets around good for someone who’s just popped his stitches from the surgery he had yesterday on the wing of a plane wiped down with rags from a rusty bucket.

I think they bought the suit jackets in bulk.

It’s ugly on me too.

Nadia, on the other hand, did herself up all pretty to reclaim her man in this retro-inspired blue polka-dot dress and hair-salon-fresh curls. You’ve come a long way since the burkha baby!

Over on the beach Juliette is setting a fashion trend! Sun has started dressing just like her! Both women are wearing jeans and a button down shirt unbuttoned just far enough to reveal some cleavage and a tank top underneath. Seems like a lot of clothes to wear on a beach in the blazing sun, but these women are not afraid to suffer for fashion.

Copycat!

Off-Island Sun has fantastic fashion sense. The Oceanic Six stylist put her in paisely print… never good look…

First thing she did with her settlement was find herself a *fabulous* sheer maternity top that’s both lightweight and slimming.

Second thing she did was buy a controlling interest in her father’s company.

Hurley’s parents sure know how to throw a party, don’t they?? Here they are in custom made matching Hawaiian print outfits. Always remember, you can never be overdressed when you’re hosting a theme party!

Kate has really adapted to her off-island life as a Mother. She’s not only the world’s best mother, she’s always pulled together, looking fabulous with perfect hair and makeup. Pretty impressive for a first-time mom. Especially one who likes to climb trees and trek around in the jungle for fun.

Not only that, but someone finally got Aaron some clothes! Here he is rockin’ what looks like a cute blue shorts outfit. I expect it’s just a matter of time before he spits up green stuff on Kate’s white dress, but then we all start out pretty at parties, don’t we?

I don’t think it worked.

Here’s Richard Alpert, the first of the mysterious “others” to pop out of the jungle at us, wearing brown. Oh! It all makes sense now. Alpert works for UPS. His strange comings and goings are clearly related to worldwide package delivery!

They use the children they take as package handlers, while the adults serve as the delivery drivers. Jacob is the LOST Island plant manager. It all makes so much sense now!

Keamy heads a team of expert marksmen skilled in the art of shooting anyone but Sawyer whilst always keeping their faces completely obscured with guns, makeup and big floppy hats.

Did I mention he’s hot? Evil is so sexy.

This week takes us back to the 1950’s when women wore lipstick in frightening shades of red,

and pretty much everyone smoked pretty much everywhere.

It was a time when men and women had clearly defined gender roles in society, but that doesn’t stop our rebellious Richard Alpert from wearing his trademark eyeliner.

Ageless and Fearless in the 50’s

Horace is in a dream and on a loop sporting a Dharma Jumpsuit and left nostril unstuck-in-time nosebleed, speaking cryptically to Locke and chopping down trees. Why don’t you just tell Locke where the cabin is for goodness sake?

Hurley must have been saving this designer T-shirt for just such a trek across the jungle. Either there were fresh clothes his size in the barracks or else he brought this embellished T with and just hadn’t worn it until now. Very snazzy.

Frank has been traveling back and forth from the freighter to the island with the same dirty band-aid Juliette gave him 10 episodes ago. Must be Band-Aid brand cause that thing is really stuck on him.

Meanwhile Keamy is having another B&D moment with his friend and an MP3 player.

Matthew Abbadon made an appearance as an orderly. The outfit’s not very noteworthy but I just had to say “Worst Orderly Ever”.

On to the cabin, which they showed very little of considering the title of this episode was “Cabin Fever”, where we finally get to see Christian Sheppard speaking and interacting with someone on the island.

Big O was wondering why he’s got the hiking boots and the scruffy beard instead of the suit and the white sneakers we’re accustomed to seeing him in.

I’ve got no clue, but I’m worried now that Big O is trying to steal my job!

Last but not least, Claire, who’s possibly either on drugs or resting in peace… hard to tell the difference… has copied Frank’s forehead band-aid, dirt and all!

Fashion is obviously very important to the Losties who always look *fabulous* no matter what harrowing circumstances they may be in.

Fashion Diva Kate opened this episode in her DIY tube top. Sometimes, when you’re sitting on the beach in your jeans in the hot sun, tank top straps are just too much to bear.

Also new for her this week is the headband made of something that looks like weeds. Obviously nothing more than a fashion statement as it doesn’t actually keep her hair out of her face at all.

The boys in Otherville have access to plumbing, washing machines, hair dryers, etc. so their clothes are all looking their best these days. Hurley’s clearly using hair product, and Sawyer’s been ironing his shirts. Even Locke is wearing a nice clean shirt, and he’s always the last one to change. Ben’s been shaving, so there’s no shortage of razors…

Which means the scruffy beard they all have is FASHION! A little more than a 5 o’clock shadow, The 9 o’clock shadow is all the rage on the island. Probably cause the guys see that it really works for Jack.

Since all the pregnant women on the island die before they can give birth, there’s no baby clothes for poor little Aaron. They’ve just sort of tossed a blanket over him. There probably aren’t any pampers on the island either. Claire has her work cut out for her.

She has such a difficult job being a clueless new mom and looking after her giant two month old baby with no supplies. Poor dear is so tired she left Aaron with Hurley and went home to take a nap. Didn’t even get her shoes off before falling into such a sound sleep that all the yelling and screaming and gunfire and explosions didn’t wake her up.

Meanwhile, in Iraq in the future, Ben’s rockin’ the “Don’t pay attention to me, I’m just a photographer trying to blend into the local culture” scarf, while Sayid, in mourning (again), shows us his serious side in a classic black suit.

You’d think someone would have thought it strange that he suddenly ran off into an alley in the middle of the funeral procession carrying the casket of his dead wife to her grave, but then they probably thought it was strange that he’d wear a black suit to a Muslim funeral too.

If you love a man in uniform, you’ll love Keamy who was decked out in camouflage being the kind of bad boy all the women fall for. Seen here with subjugating Alex, looking like something out of French BSDM Vouge.

We’re hot!

Ben knows that London is one of the fashion capitals of the world! He made sure to color his hair and put on a fine suit and coat before trying to blag his way into the elevator that goes to Widmore’s penthouse. Good thinking Ben! No one would believe your lies with your natural hair color!

A much better look for him than the Dharma parka he woke up wearing in Tunisia. Totally out of season. What a fashion faux pas!

I found this article a week or so ago and I felt some of it definitely had the Cranky Fanatic spirit in it. Here’s an excerpt: 

Shouldn’t Danielle have seen the ambush coming? Rousseau didn’t land on the island yesterday; she’s fully aware of the Others’ potential for evildoing. I find it hard to believe that a woman who (supposedly) survived on the island for sixteen years would walk into an ambush without being suspicious. Even Karl questioned Ben’s motives for sending them into the jungle, for crying out loud! I understand that Danielle thought leaving the Barracks was the best way to protect Alex, but why was she so quick to trust Ben, the man who abducted her daughter? Rousseau may be crazy, but she’s not stupid. Remember how paranoid she was when Sayid first encountered her? She had traps set up all around her camp and didn’t trust anyone. How did this gun-wielding survivor turn into a sitting duck three seasons later?

• Today Cuse and Lindelof are giving a keynote presentation at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) conference in Las Vegas. Hopefully some audio of this surfaces soon. If you were able to attend the conference and get audio feel free to send it in for Big-O to play on a podcast.
• Friday, April 18th, the video podcast where the producers take video questions from fans is set to be released. I’ve heard from DarkUFO that this has already been recorded a week or two ago. Hopefully there are some interesting tidbits about the rest of Season 4 and the future of Lost in the podcast.
• There is a new schedule for the rest of Season 4, which will now include an extra hour. There will be 4 consecutive 1 hour shows starting April 24th. Then Lost will break for two weeks and return on May 29th with a 2-hour conclusion. This will make Season 4 14-hours long in total.
• April 29th the Season 3 soundtrack will be released. The soundtrack will be 2 discs. The first disc will be a selection of tracks from all of the episodes except the finale (Through The Looking Glass) with the second disc being the entire soundtrack for Through The Looking Glass.

That’s about it for now. I’ll certainly be looking forward to all of this stuff, especially the Season 3 soundtrack as I’m a big fan of Michael Giacchino.

I’m congested, and I’ve been a listener of Big-O’s show for over a year now. I’ve been blogging over on the DarkUFO Forum and Media Mentions sections, I also helped out with the Via Domus and Find 815 sections when those were going. What recently caught the attention of Big-O however, which ultimately led me on a path to write this sentence, was my own blog, Audibly Lost. There I blog less about Lost and more about the fan community that surrounds it. 

I hope to bring some interesting stuff to the Cranky Fanatic blog in the coming weeks, and I look forward to consuming your time, especially if you’re at work.

The first thing I want to focus on is getting more quality content to the web site in the form of blog posts. I’ve got the audio end covered, but I’ve always wanted to have more articles on the site than just the podcast posts. I’ve tried more than once to blog myself and it just doesn’t seem to be in my blood.

So, here’s where you come in. I’m looking for people to contribute to my site in the form of blog posts. At the moment I’m focusing only on LOST, but other than that, I’ll take anything. If you’re good and finding Lost news, or even if you just have a lot of opinions, then I’ll probably like to hear what you’ve got. I also won’t have a problem linking back to your own site if you have something to promote. I’m generous with the link love

You don’t have to have previous experience but I will want to see a sample of what you’ve written before I sign you up. Either send me a link to something LOST related you’ve written, or just write up a new article and email it to me. If you’re interested in helping out then contact me and we’ll work out the details.

One person has come on board already, and that is the one and only Congested! He’s a regular on the live shows but usually stays only in the chat room until the recorder is off. He is a regular contributer to DarkUFO’s site, and has his own LOST blog as well which I’ll let him tell you more about when he posts. He’s also the one who sent me the exclusive coverage of the Damon and Carlton interview at the Promax conference.
